Stage 6, 10/09/16, 150km - 3,600m+:
With 576km covered, stage six is a completely new course for the Haute Route with three mountains discovered. The first summit of the day, Bolzano, is surrounded by awe-inspiring towers of jagged rock and famous horizons that attract many to the region. For the final part of the day, riders have to climb a steady 6% for the first part but it then steepened to above 8% after a plateau mid-way through making this part a challenge.
11/:Stage 7, 11/09/16, 175km - 2,000m+:
For the final day there was only 175km of riding left towards the Adriatic Sea but this challenge is not to be underestimated. The gradient is unrelenting, from 8-11% but at least it remained consistent which gave Robert and the team a chance to find their rhythm. The last descent of the day went past a 10th century castle overlooking the picturesque town of Conegliano. All the cyclists then regroup and enjoy a 50km procession into Venice.
So far Robert and the team have raised an outstanding £157,069.89 and counting. There is still time to donate if you have not done so already.
