Olleco’s Liverpool site achieves ISO 14001 accreditation

On Friday 23rd March 2018 Olleco Liverpool successfully achieved the ISO 14001 accreditation from UCAS accredited body, BSI.

Along with Olleco Aylesbury, Liverpool is our second site to be awarded ISO 14001. The plan is to achieve this accreditation across all the Olleco sites by next year.

Liverpool has been audited against a variety of ISO criteria including legislation, compliance, environmental leadership, training, maintenance, emergency response and safety control. The site will continue to be audited by BSI every six months with an official strategic review taking place every three years.

Stephen Weston, SHEQ Director commented on receiving the accreditation: “ISO 14001 provides an Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure we protect the environment by preventing or mitigating our impact. Our leadership in 14001 demonstrates how we have embedded this commitment into all our activities and provides us with the tools to ensure a cycle of continuous improvement.

This achievement is testament to the dedication, hard work and commitment of the team. They truly represent the best of Olleco.”

Notes

Olleco biodiesel plant, Liverpool - Our purpose built biodiesel plant is the UK’s largest processing site solely dedicated to producing biodiesel from used cooking oil. It features cutting edge technology enabling us to produce EN14214 EU specification biodiesel that is ISCC certified.

We have been able to take the biodiesel conversion technology one step further by combining the synergetic effects of an Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant and a biodiesel plant; which are both fed from different wastes collected from the same customer base. This exceptionally low carbon production process allows biodiesel to be produced with world class GHG savings while offering an opportunity to provide some of our customers with a closed recycling loop.

Olleco Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant, Aylesbury – Our 15 MW AD facility converts in excess of 100,000 tonnes of food waste into heat, power and bio-methane for export to the national grids, and bio-fertiliser each year.

This ISO 9001 and 14001 accredited green energy plant produces enough sustainable energy to power the equivalent of 12,000 homes. Working together with multiple supply chain partners we have delivered a truly sustainable outcome and put the circular economy in action.
